If you've ever felt a softer, plusher fabric, please let us know -- we certainly haven't! This organic cotton sherpa is made from a heavy knit terry that is napped, tumbled, and tip-sheared, resulting in a pebble-like, fleecey texture. It is incredibly cozy, absorbent, and warm. Perfect for cuddly children's jumpsuits and overalls, adult's cozy shirts, the innermost layer on a cloth diaper, a fall jacket (or use it to line a winter coat for the utmost in natural luxury), the top layer of a changing or play pad, a snugglesack to protect those precious infant feet ... the uses go on and on! Baby blankets backed with organic sherpa are phenomenally expensive; make your own for a fraction of the price. Like most of our natural fabrics, this sherpa dyes beautifully if you're so inclined.
Although the mill measures this sherpa at 57" wide, 56" cuttable, we've found that it can range from 52-56" depending on the roll.
Please note that like all 100% cotton sherpas, this fabric can wash up a bit pill-y and matted. That's the price we have to pay to remove the poly content, but we've found that it's generally not a problem. (We've bought and/or made diapers, sweatshirts, pants, etc, out of cotton sherpa and even after washing we've really loved the items.)
Each mill run is a new batch, with a slightly different feel from the last; if exact matching is important to you, request a swatch before ordering yardage. When organic cotton fibers are sourced from different farmers, with slightly changed "twists" to the yarn, the fabric itself can be different as a result.
