Softer and more absorbent with each washing, this organic birdseye's tightly twisted threads are woven into a pattern of very small, uniform spots. The pique texture weave can be used in clothing and blankets, as well as making incredibly durable diapers (flat, prefold, or fitted). It also makes good toweling, summer dresses, nightclothes and bathrobes, burp cloths, lap and changing pads, etc.

The bottom photo shows some very simple window treatments Katrina made for her house. The birdseye's opaque enough for privacy and to block the worst of New Mexico's oh-so-strong sun, yet it lets in enough light and any passing breeze so Katrina feels like she's at home with nature even in the middle of town. A dowel on the bottom of each blind helps them hang straight while still letting them blow in the wind. Doesn't the picture make you want to start sewing?
