This luscious velour is just what we've been looking for -- sooooo soft and cuddly that we just want to wrap ourselves up in it and stay there indefinitely! Unlike so many of the organic velours out there, it's 100% organic cotton: there's no poly, even in the backing, and the fabric still washes and wears beautifully. We washed a piece 20 times (various water temperatures, eco-friendly soap) and the softness was virtually unchanged; there was hardly any pilling either. (We also learned that this fabric acquires quite a lovely pink tinge when washed with something red that isn't quite color-safe -- keep that in mind as a dyeing option, although the more traditional methods doubtlessly work rather more effectively!)

Each mill run is a new batch, with a slightly different feel from the last; if exact matching is important to you, request a swatch before ordering yardage. When organic cotton fibers are sourced from different farmers, with slightly changed "twists" to the yarn, the fabric itself can be different as a result.

Use this marvellous material for baby layettes, diapers, and blankets; for kid dresses, pants, and sweet sweatshirts; for sumptuous adult jogging sets, robes, pajamas, and holiday dresses; for throw pillows, comforter covers, and bedspreads.
