Woven as a wool flannel and then fulled (a controlled felting process), the material is not as soft as a conventional flannel but is a dense, water-resistant, cozy joy to work with. Technically called "coating weight" or "outerwear weight," and weighing 14 ounces per square yard, you'll find so many wonderful ways to use this great fabric. Great for warm winter coats, capes, and making or lining snowgear; you won't want to be without a good stash of this fabric each winter. The ebony color means added wearability (because dirt won't show as quickly as on a lighter fabric) and many more options for adult styles.

Individual rolls can have different properties -- slightly different weights, feels, etc. Be sure to order a new swatch before you place your fabric order.

Made from organic Australian merino wool, woven in the United States. The fulling process produced about 20% shrinkage, and washing on hot can felt the material a bit more but much less than had the cloth not been pre-treated.
