Claret Melton Wool

Like a fine wine, we can't get enough of this glorious wool melton. The cranberry color is perfect for fall and winter wear, and it'll liven up both your wardrobe and your life. Try it for a light jacket, glorious tailored skirts or pants, and so much more. It's also wonderful for baby -- make excellent puddle pads, sleep sacks, diaper covers, and warm blankets.

Woven as a wool flannel and then fulled (a controlled felting process), the material is not as soft as a conventional flannel but is a dense, water-resistant, cozy joy to work with. Technically called "coating weight" or "outerwear weight," and weighing 14 ounces per square yard, you'll find so many wonderful ways to use this great fabric. Great for warm winter coats, scarves, capes, and making or lining snowgear; you won't want to be without a good stash of this fabric each winter.

Made from organic Australian merino wool, woven in the United States. The fulling process produced about 20% shrinkage, and washing on hot can felt the material a bit more but much less than had the cloth not been pre-treated.

This is a discontinued fabric, with only a limited amount available. We recommend purchasing more than enough for your project as we will be unable to restock this fabric.

Made in the US.
