Oh, the plans we have for this timelessly elegant evergreen wool melton! Absolutely perfect for tailored work clothing and coats, but don't overlook its possibilities for baby as well (excellent for puddle pads, sleep sacks, diaper covers, and warm blankets). As is far too frequently the case, the monitor doesn't do this color justice -- it's a deep, almost heathered evergreen that is worth requesting a swatch to see.

Woven as a wool flannel and then fulled (a controlled felting process), the material is not as soft as a conventional flannel but is a dense, water-resistant, cozy joy to work with. Technically called "coating weight" or "outerwear weight," and weighing 14 ounces per square yard, you'll find so many wonderful ways to use this great fabric. Great for warm winter coats, scarves, capes, and making or lining snowgear; you won't want to be without a good stash of this fabric each winter.

Made from organic Australian merino wool, woven in the United States. The fulling process produced about 20% shrinkage, and washing on hot can felt the material a bit more but much less than had the cloth not been pre-treated.
