Like the deep, clear blue ocean that we all dream about, with the color varations characteristic of a well-done batik, this is one of those fabrics that we have to be convinced to sell because we really want to keep it for our own use! Hand-batiked by the wonderful folks at The Fiberactive Quilt Company, this glorious fabric is a NearSea Naturals exclusive. This extra-wide fabric comes in three-yard increments only, as that's the size that they're batiking for us, and that turns out to be a good amount for all sorts of marvelous creations. This makes gorgeous duvet covers, pillowcases, curtains, tablecloths, napkins, skirts, sundresses, and so very much more.
The modified batik process is performed using low-immersion dyes and the water is reclaimed. No wax is used in this process. Our friends at Fiberactive say "One mission of Fiberactive is to provide a market for organic cotton in order to promote organic farming techniques throughout the world and especially here in the US. Our second mission is to enable artists to make a good living from their craft and keep the traditional role of artists in our society alive and well." Made in the US, using organic sateen woven in India.
The picture is of the fabric hanging; a close-up doesn't give you a good idea of what it looks like.
