Handwoven on antique looms in a small town in India, where members of a women's cooperative create this beautiful fabric as part of their way to support their families and educate their children. This luminously glorious silk is almost translucent, as you can see in the bottom picture: our model is holding a piece about six inches in front of her and you can see her hoop earring though her face is still fascinatingly obscured. Perfect for scarves, lingerie, blissful curtains, and so much more. It weighs 1.7 ounces a square yard, and is undyed -- what you see is the natural color of the beautiful silk threads.
The pictures are all of the same piece of fabric; it just looks different depending on how it catches the light and what background is lending its color. The base color is an almost golden natural ivory-ish, and we highly recommend requesting a swatch to see for yourself.
Do be aware that each roll of this fabric we receive tends to differ from the last, so if you have ordered this fabric before October 2012, please request a new swatch.
