The subtle color of this splendid fabric is somehow comforting to me, calling to mind the proverbial home and hearth. (Of course, Willie just walked in and said it reminded him of camouflage, so what do I know?!) Closely woven, soft (for a hemp), lightly colored, and so perfect for clothing, home decor, and more, you'll love this cloth.
(The color scans particularly poorly, so if you're at all curious about the fabric we definitely encourage you to request a swatch. It's a great shade; you just can't necessarily tell through the computer screen.)
The material is glorious for pants, jackets, skirts, tailored shorts, and kids' clothes too (where you'll appreciate hemp's durability and the color's ability to mask at least a bit of dirt). You'll also choose it for throw pillows, drapes, tablecloths, and more. The organic cotton adds extra tactile appeal and drape. You'll love the look and feel of this splendid fabric.
At 10.2 ounces per linear yard, we weighed the fabric at 6.8 oz/square yard. The maker, however, weighs it at 5.7 ounces/square yard. Why the discrepancy? Different scales, different people doing the weighing, different atmospheric conditions, ... who knows?
Made from organic cotton and naturally grown hemp, raised as a companion plant in the fields of China without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Farm and mill workers are paid a fair wage for their work, receive benefits and have a significant amount of say about their jobs. Purchase this fabric knowing you are making a difference!
