If you love the classic pointelle knit but think it's just a bit too open, this is the perfect alternative. The gloriously stretchy (approximately 100%) base fabric is soft and has great rebound, while the pattern created by the transfer stitch is much more subtle and delicate than you might expect. (Fairchild's Dictionary of Textiles defines pointelle as "Rib knit fabric made with a pattern of openings formed by the use of transfer stitches.")

This medium-weight cloth is warm, nicely stretchy, and gently feminine. You'll love it for outerwear, underwear, and everything inbetween -- dresses, shirts, pajamas, longjohns, camisoles, ... Because of the understated pattern, this fabric also works well for baby clothes; where other pointelles can overpower delicate baby features, this one is gorgeous.
