When you know you want sateen but the wide-width is simply too wide, this is the fabric for you. It's an excellent material for so many purposes; this is one to keep in your fabric stash because you'll reach for it again and again.
Perfect for backing quilts, making crib bedding, and other crafts (napkins, tablecloths, curtains, bags, etc), and a marvelous venue for embellishment -- sateen tends to accept screenprinting well (or freezerpaperstencilling, its easier but more resource-intensive cousin), is great for appliqueing on, and is fun to draw or write on using fabric markers. (I've seen stunning pillowcases where the creator simply wrote "good night * sleep tight" on the hem.)
Don't stop at crafts and home dec purposes, though -- this is a splendid material for clothing as well. It's nice for more formal men's shirts, English Smocks, scrubs (especially when embellished to make them more exciting), women's skirts and jackets, kids' historical reenactment clothing (for boys too, of course), and so much more.
At 7 ounces per linear yard, this sateen weighs about 4.3 ounces per square yard. It is woven in the United States from certified organic cotton.
