Wool Batting
Approx 88" by 66"
Fine, clean, and a joy to work with, you'll absolutely love this organic wool batting. Indeed, just touching it can improve your mood! Feel the soft warmth of its fibers -- free from synthetics and phosphates, the wool is carefully and humanely sheared from organic sheep (organic food, no antibiotics, etc.). Around three and a half pounds of wool fibers are formed into an approximately 88x66" sheet; the batting can then be manipulated for larger or smaller areas. From 1-1.5 inches thick, it can be layered as necessary for thicker uses. You'll find this makes for incredible ease of use in so many applications -- not just bedding! Take advantage of wool's natural antibacterial and frame-retardant properties by using it for a comforter or mattress pad, or combine multiple layers to make a pillow. A pillow made of wool and a packet of buckwheat hulls is popular in Japan, combining soft comfort and firm support. Soft toys and dolls stuffed with organic wool have been loved for generations -- make some today, to start your own traditions.

Washed and formed in the United States, where the workers ensure that all processes are done organically. No chemicals or soaps harmful to the environment, the wool, or the wearer are ever used. Occasional organic inclusions, far fewer than our previously-offered Farmer's Market Wool Batting, highlight the natural qualities of this pure wool without detracting from its beauty.

Many people who are unable to tolerate conventional woolen products find themselves unaffected by organic versions; they're surprised to discover that the intolerance is not of the wool fibers themselves but of the many chemicals that can cling to non-organic products. Buy a sample and see for yourself! Also available by the pound as our Organic Wool Stuffing.

Due to the oversized packaging necessary to ship our batting, additional postage is generally necessary. We will contact you with the precise amount before sending your shipment, or you can email us for a specific quote before placing your order.

Hand-washing or dry-cleaning is recommended (we, of course, tend to favor the former); do not machine-dry unless you're trying to felt the wool.

This wool batting can also be used needle-felting and wet-felting. The oh-so-fun baby polar bear (named Miki, which means "little" in Inuit) and pig pictured were needle-felted by Leah, of Leah's Organic Originals, using this wool; you may remember seeing her beautiful organic baby set featured in our blog last year. The colored details are done with our yarns. Isn't her work exquisite? As always, email Leah if you want to discuss any commissioned work.
