Just about everything you'll need for washable feminine protection! Every nursing mom will appreciate a few pairs of the contoured nursing pads -- so easy to make, and so very helpful especially in the early days. Several versions of sanitary pads are included, with a unique hook-and-loop system that fastens either to Your Own Self-Adjusted Panties or to a Panty Wrapper, as well as a more traditional version of pad or panty wrapper that closes with snaps. A two-pocket Mini Tote is great for carrying both clean and used items. All items can be made with either a regular sewing machine or a serger, and they're generally quite easy to make.
None of the items requires more than 1/4 yard of fabric except the Femme-Fold Sanitary Pad, which calls for 1/2 yard. Some are so small that they can be made from scraps, which is always a plus! Several call for waterproof fabric, again not more than 1/4 yard per item. (Felted wool jersey can frequently be used where waterproof fabric is called for, though not always.) You'll need 3/4" hook-and-loop tape for several items (though the pattern designer doesn't recommend it, well-thought-out snaps can substitute in most places if you react to the hook-and-loop tape), and size 14 snaps are used for the Panty Wrapper, She Shell, and Femme-Fold Sanitary Pad. The manufacturer's suggested fabrics are:
Contoured Nursing Pads, Sanitary Pads, Panty Liners, She Shell, Femme-Fold Sanitary Pad: Interlock, Jersey, Knit Terry, French Terry, Flannel, Light-weight Twill, Lace Fabric for outer layer optional on Contoured Nursing Pads. 100% cotton is recommended.
