Suggested fabrics: Crisp tightly-woven cottons or blends such as poplin, duck, denim, and drill cloth. Also appropriate for rayon challis, silk pongee, shantung, satins, and taffetas. Garment is cut crosswise to bolt length of fabric hence not suitable for lengthwise stripes, patterns or nap. A stripe or twill design that runs the length of the fabric on the bolt will produce a hakama with crosswise stripes. For vertical stripes or designs, you must choose fabric with a cross-wise stripe.
