The timeless simplicity of this elegant garment is still enchanting. Our unlined informal kimono (yukata) can be worn in various lengths, as a dress, coat, or robe. This pattern, Folkwear 113, includes instructions for shibori dyeing, sashiko embroidery, and for making an informal obi or sash. Your favorite child can match you, with our Child's Kimono pattern.

Suggested fabrics: Light or medium-weight cotton, rayon, or silk. Yukata kimono are often blue and white, or other colorful prints.

Sized for men and women to 6 ft. tall. Click here to view yardage requirements.

Since the 1970s, Folkwear patterns have been used by theatre and dance costumers, historic reenactors, art-to-wear-aficionados, and anyone who enjoys dressing up. Folkwear patterns are based on vintage fashions and traditional ethnic garments for an authentic look. But with a fresh eye and creative touch, these timeless styles can become exciting and trend-setting wearable art today.
