Perfect for hostess gifts or brightening up your own house, you'll love these fun, appliqued items. The apron, in child and adult sizes, has a patch pocket and bias tape-finished outside edges and straps. You'll need one yard of 60" fabric for adult sizes and 3/4 yard for child. The oven mitt is lined, padded with polyester fleece (though I'd choose a more organic version -- cotton or wool batting, probably), and finished with bias tape; it can easily be made from scraps. The table runner with a contrast border has decorative stitches or trim and optional appliques; the pattern can be adjusted for length or width but originally calls for pieces of fabric and contrast fabric 14" x 60". The bottle apron, which makes even the cheapest wine look oh-so-stylish, calls for a 12" x 18" piece of vest fabric and a 3" x 5" piece of shirt fabric, along with a scrap piece of ribbon for the bow tie, 5/8 yard of wide ribbon for ties, three buttons for the vest, and one button for the shirt.
The appliques, which are optional on all items, include a gingerbread man, a snowflake, and a poinsettia (that you could, with minimal effort, turn into a tropical flower of a much-less Christmassy sort). You'll need scrap pieces of fabric, paper-backed fusible web, and tear-away material.
