What little kid wouldn't love a bear that's almost as big as s/he is? These two options, one 20" and the other 29" from ears to feet, are sure to become someone's new best friend, to add a bit of playfulness to a nursery, playroom, or couch, and to be well-loved for years. If you've never made a stuffed toy before, this is a good one to start with.

Designed for medium-weight fabrics like felt, wool, boiled wool, denim, corduroy, terrycloth, chenille, fleece, etc. The pattern calls for polyester fiberfill stuffing, but that hasn't been seen in our house since we started learning more about various natural and unnatural fibers; I would personally choose organic wool or organic cotton stuffing, but it's completely up to you.

The small bear requires 5/8 yard of 60" wide fabric, approximately one pound of polyester fiberfill, a pair of eyes approximately 5/8" (how about one of our buttons?), a scrap piece of contrast fabric for the nose, and a scrap piece of fusible interfacing. The large bear calls for 1 1/8 yard of fabric, approximately 1 1/2 pound of fiberfill, a pair of eyes, and a scrap piece of contrast fabric for the nose and of fusible interfacing.
