Instructions and Ideas : Carefully-chosen sewing patterns : Patterns for us all!

Moroccan Burnoose

This sweeping cape is traditionally worn by Berber tribesmen over loose tunics, but it's also dramatic when untraditionally worn over urban outfits. The bias-cut half circle design features an ample hood for protection from the sand and sun, or for discreet camouflage. Details are included about different ways of wearing and draping the finished garment.

Suggested fabrics for this pattern, Folkwear 132: Medium to heavyweight wools and blends; upholstery-weight cottons or linen. Uneven plaids and napped fabrics are not suitable. For yardage requirements, click here.

Since the 1970s, Folkwear patterns have been used by theatre and dance costumers, historic reenactors, art-to-wear-aficionados, and anyone who enjoys dressing up. Folkwear patterns are based on vintage fashions and traditional ethnic garments for an authentic look. But with a fresh eye and creative touch, these timeless styles can become exciting and trend-setting wearable art today.
