Substantial in look and feel, but not at all heavy (thanks to the sustainable wood used in their creation), these square buttons with rounded edges are fascinating and eye-catching. They add a touch of distinction to clothing (glorious closing coats, overalls, and so much more), accessories, crafts, home dec projects... 36 Ligne, which translates to approximately 7/8" in diameter.
The buttons are individually made by a family outside of Lima, Peru using machinery in a small workshop at their home. The materials are gathered sustainably; the wood is certified rain forest free and is not begotten from any ill means (clear cutting the rain forests). The family gathers the wood themselves - mostly from fallen branches but also purchased from certified wood lots. Purchasing these buttons helps promote the use of environmental, renewable materials.
Expect some variations in the buttons, as they're made by hand from natural materials. These variations are part of their charm, when approached with the right mindset. Consider washing clothes with natural buttons inside-out to minimize wear and tear on the buttons.
