Smocked Frock

Could there be anything cuter than this comfy party frock? It's perfect for frolicking in the summer sun, or for spring or fall days when worn with a long sleeved tee underneath. The skirt is easily shaped without any disruptive increases, so the lines will be clean and flowing. Its A-line is achieved through the use of progressively larger needles, giving a looser gauge as you move down the skirt. The smocking on top is a very simple and easily memorized stitch.

With detailed instructions and an appendix of techniques, it's designed for the advanced beginner even though the finished product looks like you must have been knitting for years. Five sizes fit girls from 6 months to 4T.

Designed for DK-weight yarn as follows:
6mo: 1 skein (approximately 290 yards)
1T-3T: 2 skeins (approximately 560 yards)
4T: 3 skeins (approximately 620 yards)

You'll need size 6, 8 and 10(US) circular needles (16" or 24").

The middle picture shows a detail of the smocking, and the bottom picture shows a close-up of the hem.

Made in the US.
