Beautiful, Natural Yarns & Needles : Eco-friendly yarns from plant-based fibers

Vibrant Fingering-Weight Hemp Yarn
165 yard/50-gram skeins
Wonderful for socks, lacework, and other light, delicate knits, these longline wetspun yarns are vibrant in color (from low-impact dyes, of course) and provide outstanding drape and longevity. Mercerized for color fastness, softness (for hemp), and sheen, this fingering-weight yarn is absolutely splendid. (Mercerization is a chemical and heat process that increases the luster of the thread. Fuzzy threads are burned off, creating a smoother surface that reflects light, increasing the luster of the thread. It also increases water absorbency, making the thread easier to dye.) Expect 28 sts and 38 rows over 4 inches, using 3 mm (2 US) needles. It's easy to care for: machine or hand-wash, and machine or line-dry.

Made from long-fiber hemp sustainably grown in China; hand or machine wash and lay flat to dry. The manufacturer's name is "allhemp 3," should you be looking for that yarn in particular.

The yarn is made and dyed in a socially-responsible manner at a factory where LanaKnits maintains a significant amount of oversight about employment issues, social equity, etc. The company's used the same Chinese mill for four years, and truly believes they provide an ethical, high-quality yarn.

Ordering a swatch will get you small pieces of all five colors; there's no need to specify which one you're interested in.
