Splendid for quilting, bedding construction, and other sturdy sewing work like jeans and bags, this organic thread is absolutely amazing. It works wonderfully for top stitching and embroidery, since it is a larger thread and will lay on top of the fabric, cover well and be visible. Made in the US from certified organic cotton and developed in compliance with the new Global Organic Textile Standards, this is the best heavy-duty organic cotton thread we've ever seen. Created from a collaboration between the YLI Thread folks and our friends at The Fiberactive Quilt Company (who also dye our batik wide-width sateen fabrics), it's produced using methods based on emerging Domestic Fair Trade standards.

These large cones (about 7 inches high) have 6500 yards of natural-colored thread designed for heavy-duty machine use (you can use it for hand-sewing, of course, but it'll more than stand up to the rigors of machinework too!). We're thrilled to offer this 24/3 organic thread, and have been enjoying working with it. Each cone weighs about a pound.

This thread is available in smaller-sized cones as well as wholesale for our business customers. We do encourage you to buy as large a cone as you think you might need, as the thread is wound around a plastic center and the larger sizes use less plastic per yard of thread.
