So much nicer than plastic, I absolutely love these tagua teardrops. They feel like ivory, without harming any elephants, and this particular style reminds me of a worry stone -- I don't want to stop touching it. It's 15 mm long (almost .6", or 24 Ligne), and it looks just splendid almost anywhere you can imagine using it. Seriously one of my favorite buttons, and at this price how can you resist? If you like to dye fabric, you'll love our tauga nut buttons; they're ready-to-dye, and it's oh-so-easy!
The nut of a native palm tree, tagua is also known as corozo or vegetable ivory. It looks like animal ivory, and can be both carved and dyed. Profits made from the nut's use provide a reason not to harvest South American rain forest and deplete the ozone layer. This button is made in Spain.
