Organic Green Cotton Yarn -- Boiled ColorGrown ~2-ounce skeins
This great three-ply yarn is a deep deep green, and completely undyed. (The color is all natural, from the organic ColorGrown cotton!)
This is a wonderful plain yarn, splendid for beginning knitters, who will love it for dishtowels, washcloths, stitch samplers, etc. More advanced craftspeople will appreciate its purity and feel and have far too much fun.
Made from FoxFibre Colorganic ® cotton and sold in approximately two-ounce skeins, you'll find yourself reaching for this yarn for all sorts of uses. Don't limit yourself to knitting and crocheting; use it anywhere you'd want an organic, all-natural cotton string. (The kitchen uses alone are nearly endless!) The three plies easily unravel should you want thinner string with which to work. Great for decorating crafts -- tying quilts, making doll hair for less-traditional dolls (don't mermaids need green hair?), and the like.
Sally Fox, who creates this yarn, makes such a deep hue (instead of the more subtle ColorGrown green that you may be familiar with) by boiling the naturally-green ColorGrown cotton in a high-PH water to intensify the color. It's something you can do at home with your own ColorGrown cotton items, but in this case Sally did it for you!
The cotton boll's natural waxes, removed by most manufacturers, remain on these yarns; remove them with hot water and washing soda with soap or detergent. Once the waxes are removed, the yarn will absorb moisture like any other cotton. Or, for a more watertight construction, wash your creations in cool water with a minimum of detergents to preserve the waxes.
Each 2 ounce skein has approximately 175 yards of yarn.
