Reading Pillow

The Reading Pillow is perfect for encouraging a child to read or providing relief for grandma's arthritic hands. This pattern features straps to hold the book securely on the pillow and page holders to keep the book open, so your hands are completely free while reading. Also included are some funky and useful twists, such as handmade piping, a built-in bookmark, and pockets for reading glasses and pencils.

The Reading Pillow pattern includes easy-to-follow photo tutorial instructions and full-sized pattern pieces. This pattern is suitable for advanced beginners.

You may want Swedish Tracing Paper or Kwik Trace Cloth to trace the pieces on, so you don't cut the actual pattern.

Materials called for include: 3/4 yard of cotton canvas or other sturdy cotton; 1/2 yard of color-coordinated cotton; 2 yards of 4 mm cotton cord (for piping); 1 3/4 yard of 1/2" wide ribbon; a pair of plastic cord stoppers; and polyfil. (Personally, I never ever ever use polyfil; I'd use either cotton or wool batting instead.) You'll also need a zipper foot.

This is Sew Liberated Pattern #102; it is designed by a work-at-home mom and printed in the United States.

Made in the US.
