If you're just getting started sewing for a toddler, this kit's just what you need! KwikSew's Sewing For Toddlers and a package of Kwik-Trace Cloth combine with a wonderful selection of fabrics to give you both inspiration and the tools you'll need to carry through with those ideas.
Although the fabrics can vary, the kits will always include a two-yard piece of hemp woven fabric (both dressy and oh-so-durable for those frequent fallers), two yards of a plain undyed knit, and one yard pieces of two different fabrics that have been colored with low-impact dyes. The current kits have Mandala, Royal Blue 1x1 Rib Knit, Wintry Forest Stripe, and Rich Natural Jersey. All fabrics are labeled for easy reordering. We're also including three feet of our nickel-free snap tape in the larger, toddler size, to make your sewing more enjoyable.
With the KwikTrace cloth and KwikSew Book, you'll be able to sew for littles running the whole gamut of toddler sizes. (The KwikTrace cloth lets you copy any size pattern as you need it, without ever cutting the master pattern sheets.) The book explains how to alter patterns to better fit a specific body, and a little bit of embellishment (buttons, applique, fabric painting, etc) goes a very long way towards personalization and creating an oh-so-professional look.
The pictures on the left are simply examples of some outfits you can make with the fabrics in this kit. The clothing was all made from one kit, and there was enough fabric left over to make more items too.
The kit is at least a $128 value, so you save quite a bit of money. The kits make marvelous gifts as well (we've had multiple people who plan to give a kit to grandparents as a not-so-subtle hint and to ensure that whatever Grandma or Grandpa makes will be natural and good to have around a baby). They're nicely presented in a biodegradable plastic bag.
