These To-Go Ware sets are splendid for almost all age groups; they can hold quite a bit of food, depending on how you choose to pack them, and are incredibly convenient. This morning, as a representative day, my nine-year-old got a spinach salad and rice with furikake in the top section, a hummus sandwich, a hardboiled egg, a sectioned orange, half a baked potato, and some dried fruit in the bottom section. And there was room left over for more food -- I'd just run out of imagination and time for meal prep! I popped the food carrier in the sling, added the utensils (which otherwise live in my purse for when we're out and about), and he was good to go. What he actually EATS will be a different story, of course, but then isn't it always?
Whether you're walking, riding your bike, or taking the subway, heading off to work, to school, or on an adventure into the unknown, your life will be that much more convenient with the To-Go Ware Action Pack in which to carry your sustenance.
The stainless steel carrier is made in India, and the fabric components are made by WEAVE, a Fair Trade women's cooperative on the Thai-Burma border working with Karen craftswomen living in refugee camps.
The Karen people have lived in Burma for hundreds of years, but the Burmese military government's human rights abuses has led to the Karen people joining over 100,000 refugees crowded along the Thai-Burma border. Like refugees worldwide, many lack access to proper healthcare, education, and income, and cannot safely return to their homes. Women's Education for Advancement and Empowerment (WEAVE) works with Burmese refugee women on the border. The program includes income generation with a focus on women's self-determination, support of child development centers, and development of health education materials.
Note that although the To-Go 2-Tier Stainless Steel Food Carrier pictured is the old style, the one sent is the new one that's described on the item's page.
