Designed to be completed in under three days, the ponchette is perfect for a long weekend or vacation project. (It's also great to work on while sitting at your kids' endless violin, soccer, dance, and other lessons ... it's SO much better to have something productive to do than to just sit there and wish you'd been smart enough to bring something with which to occupy yourself.)
Packed in a cute little reusable cotton tote, the kit comes with a pattern and three skeins of our DK-weight hemp yarn. Designed to be knit using US 8 (5 mm) needles with a gauge of approximately 16 sts and 16 rows over 4".
The wrap knits up quickly as a simple rectangle that magically turns into a cool ponchette; wear it over your shoulders or slung low on your hips.
Feedback we've been given is that these patterns aren't the easiest to work with, but that the kit is very workable for advanced beginners and the ponchette is glorious and absolutely worth any frustration. Hemp is harsher on your hands than cotton or wool; it doesn't have the elasticity of animal fibers or the softness of other plant yarns like cotton or silk, but you can't beat it for strength or durability. The fibers soften dramatically with washing, and I personally love the results.
Please note that although the package says small/med or med/large, we're assured that it actually is small/med or large/xl. The finished measurements for the S/M are 15x48", and for the L/XL are 17x53".
