A wonderful martini-olive green pairs with a splendid deep charcoal to create this stunning 1x1 rib knit. Part of the ML Marsh Collection: Organic Designer Fabrics, Winter 2011, it's simultaneously eye-catching and incredibly comfortable, very soft and nicely stretchy. We're delighted to be the only place you can find this collection, which is designed around a carefully-chosen core palette of colors and fabrics.

The stripes are a deep charcoal on a cool yellowgreen background with blue undertones, and the fabric has a bit more than 35% stretch coupled with good rebound for maximum comfort. Designer Marylou Marsh loves these striped fabrics, available in the same colors as her fall fabric collection, because "it is easy to use them to accent a piece with a binding, a belt, or a separate garment like an undershirt or over shirt. I don't see any of these stripes as gendered, which is why I picked these colors! The charcoal is wonderful because it is softer than black, which gives the punch of a stripe without the severity; it gives it a softer contrast. It gives you a warmer feeling as you look at the piece, and that's what fall is all about, getting warm and cozy."

Marylou Marsh adds that these striped fabrics are "not for the fashion wallflower." Indeed, she continues, "stripes can be a great way to get noticed. Stripes can be used as a accent to accentuate a classic design, or for a more forward and fun full garment. Stripes are also fantastic for babies' and men's tees, or women's tank tops. I find that a narrow silhouette compliments a stripe better." She adds that the 1x1 Rib Knit fabric "is good for any body-conscious design and fit because the fabric has recovery without the element of lycra. It's one of my favorite fabrics to work with because you can tailor it, but it's also very comfortable and easy to wear and design."

Many people choose this material for twinsets, athletic attire, all sorts of baby clothes, and so much more. (How much more, you ask? Well, there's dresses and skirts, pajamas, nursing tops, sexy dresses ... is that enough?)

Stripes run from selvage to selvage. The charcoal stripes are about 1/2 centimeter wide, surrounding 1-cm wide martini stripes. (That's 3/8"-wide charcoal and almost 7/8"-wide martini, for you non-metric folks.) At approximately 12.5 ounces per linear yard, the fabric weighs 7.5 ounces per square yard.

Like all our dyed fabrics, this one too is colored using low-impact dyes.

You'll find this striped rib knit a much-needed addition to so many wardrobes. The intense colors are perfect for fall and winter wear while also adding an unexpected touch of color during the other seasons. It layers well, too.
