Textural stripes add extra interest and thickness to the classic thermal waffle weave knit, resulting in a fabric with so many different applications. (Did you see the vest Marylou made from a ribbed thermal, on our examples page? Or the skirt she used it in?) Marylou Marsh chose the very popular Natural Ribbed Thermal as part of her line since she feels it is "an obvious choice for winter clothing because of the warmth, but because of its lighter weight it can work in the summer too. What makes it really special is the texture that gives it a surface interest. It works like a rib, insulates like a thermal, feels soft, and does not look like long underwear!"

Wonderful for a cardigan, a skirt or dress, a cozy hoodie, a bathrobe or nightgown, ... the choices are endless! It's also great for baby, from splendid clothes to much-appreciated receiving blankets (for the most basic version, you can serge or hem the edges; if you want to get a bit fancier, use one of our trims to bind the edges or do a double layer that you then turn right-side-out so you have clean edges). The fabric is nicely stretchy (about 55%), which means you'll love its comfort.

This is an especially great fabric because the color works for the whole family. Little children (both boys and girls) look great in it, and grown men and women will happily incorporate it into their wardrobes.

You'll find this material a much-needed addition to so many wardrobes. The intense hue is perfect for fall and winter wear while also adding an unexpected touch of color during the other seasons. It layers well, too.

As with all of our dyed fabrics, this one is colored using low-impact fiber-reactive dyes. At 9.5 ounces per linear yard, the fabric weighs approximately 6.3 ounces per square yard. Knit in the US, from US-grown organic cotton.
