It's not only the skies and the artwork that are so amazing in New Mexico's ancient community of Taos - the soil is too. Fertile, albeit dry, it looks different depending on your perspective and the wonderful clear light. Amazingly, this fabric seems to have a similar ability to change in appearance depending on what's next to it, what the lighting is, and more. You'll love the undertones of violet and gray, which deepen and intensify the taupe hue.
This is a marvelous choice for baby clothes and accessories, including blankets, hats, gowns, and diapers, and for kids' active wear. Designer Marylou Marsh loves French terry, which she describes as "a great fabric because on one side it has the nubby texture of a sweater, and on the reverse it is smooth like a heavy jersey. It is a great fabric to tailor, as it holds a shape well. It's excellent for jackets and hoodies because it is quite warm, working like a thermal because of the layer of trapped air. It also has wool-like qualities, which make it great for skirts and warm casual pants."
Colored using low-impact, fiber-reactive dyes, as always. The fabric weighs 8.6 ounces per square yard and 14.4 ounces per linear yard. It's knit in the US (from American-grown cotton).
