Marylou describes the rib fabric as "good for any body-conscious design and fit, because the fabric has recovery without the element of lycra. It's one of my favorite fabrics to work with because you can tailor it, but it's also very comfortable and easy to wear and design." With approximately 35% stretch, it's wonderful for clothing the whole family, from slinky skirts to baby kimonos and everything in-between.
This material is a much-needed addition to so many wardrobes. The intense hue is perfect for fall and winter wear while also adding an unexpected touch of color during the other seasons. It layers splendidly, too.
As a tubular fabric, the material measures 60" wide when cut; uncut it's a 30" wide tube. Take advantage of the tubular fabric's special qualities by making shirts, skirts, etc, with fewer seams, or just cut it open and proceed as you would with a normal open-width fabric.
Knit in the US from American-grown cotton.
Please note that we also carry a tighter gauge open width "baby rib", Flemish Blue Rib Knit; be sure to get a swatch of both before making final decisions about your purchase.
